1956 VW Kombi

1956 VW Kombi Transporter

This is a great-looking early Kombi that is a true joy to drive. This vehicle has been the recipient of an engine rebuild along with an extensive refurbishment. Due to a change in circumstances for our client this vehicle is being offered to the market 90% finished. All the hard work has been done and big bills have been paid with minor interior work to finish along with the fitting of new fold down side panels. This is a great opportunity to personalise this Kombi , with the work that has been done this is NOT a purist vehicle , but a vehicle that someone could have a lot of fun with or use as a eye catching promotional vehicle. In 1947 Dutch Volkswagen importer Mr Ben Pon sketched the very first drawings of the Kombi van and testing began on the Transporter prototype in 1949. In 1950 new Volkswagen CEO Heinz Nordhoff released the first production model of the Kombi Van from a factory in Wolfsburg. Kombi vans were produced in Wolfsburg until 1956. Known as the Type 2 version, the Kombi was considered the patriarch of contemporary cargo and passenger vans. The Type 2 model was unique in that it placed the driver directly above the front wheels of the Kombi and was rear-engined. The first generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 with the split windscreen, informally called the Microbus, Splitscreen, or Splittie among modern fans, was produced from 8 March 1950 through to the end of the 1967 model year.

We have a file of documentation from NZ Transport Agency from when the vehicle was vinned to get back on the road in 2016. Including certification etc. This includes work on the new (No Original) deck etc. This vehicle was registered as a 1954 Kombi when re vinned , we do believe from research it is a 56-58. However legally we must advertise it as what the registration tag is reading. I am happy to discuss this with any potential purchasers.

Priced below what this vehicle owes my client he is motivated to sell, don’t miss a great opportunity.
